If you want to have a global impact with your work, or to see in practice what SASK does in the world, send your application!

SASK, the Solidarity Centre of Finnish Trade Unions, trains new agents for decent work again in March and the study trip to Indonesia begins in November. Agent training and study trip are for you if you seriously want to deepen your knowledge in human rights in working life and international solidarity work.

In the spring agent training, the participants will receive a comprehensive information package on the Solidarity Centre of Finnish Trade Unions’ work in the world and its working methods in Finland. SASK’s South-East Asian regional coordinator Orlando ”Marlon” Quesada from the Philippines will join the training. Manila-based Quesada will tell the participants about SASK’s work in South-East Asia, including real-life examples of how is it to defend workers’ rights in a country where trade union activists are even murdered in the name of war against drugs.

The training weekend also includes workshops. In them, SASK presents its campaigns and new ones are created. There will be a lot creativity in the air, and these ideas will later be used in the campaign work!

The objective is that after the training the new decent work agents can discuss global working life issues, have an impact on them and speak for SASK in different networks.

SASK pays for accommodation, food and programme. Those coming from far away will also have their travel costs covered, using the least expensive form of public transport. The agent training and study trip are open to the members of all Finnish trade unions and their associations.

The agent training weekend will be organised in March 16–17 in Helsinki, in hotel Rantapuisto in Vuosaari. You can apply by filling in this form by 8 February.

The applicants will be informed about the selection results by 25 February.

More information on ”Agent for Decent Work” training is available on SASK website.

Study trip is an eye-opening experience

In SASK’s study trips, participants get to know local working life and the work of local trade unions. The trip includes visits to workplaces and discussions with local trade union activists, employers and workers. SASK has organised yearly project and study trips to different parts of the world, starting already in the early 1990’s.

In November 2019, it’s Indonesia’s turn. The trip takes approximately two weeks and its exact dates will be confirmed in early spring. SASK is responsible for practical arrangements and the contents of the trip. Please note that participants themselves have to cover the cost of the trip.

All study trip participants have to complete the agent training before the trip. So if you’re interested in the study trip but you haven’t completed the SASK agent training yet, send your application this spring or next autumn for the training in 28–29 September.

The study trip to Indonesia starts in November 2019. Apply by 2 February by using this application form.
