Collective agreement for the hotel, restaurant and leisure industry now being negotiated
Negotiations on the rules of the game for the work of 85,000 employees and supervisors started today, with PAM starting negotiations on the collective agreement for the hotel, restaurant and leisure industry.
The collective agreement negotiations are being conducted between PAM and the Finnish Hospitality Association MaRa, for the employers. The collective agreement now being negotiated is PAM’s second-largest agreement sector.
Negotiators from PAM and MaRa met today for the first time. According to PAM’s collective bargaining specialist Raimo Hoikkala, the talks started off in a constructive spirit.
“We discussed the structure of the negotiations and exchanged ideas about our negotiating objectives. We are setting out to construct a new collective agreement in a good spirit and cooperation”, as Hoikkala describes it.
The parties will next continue negotiations on working conditions for hospitality employees and supervisors on Thursday 12 March 2020.
The collective agreement for the hotel, restaurant and leisure industry sets out the minimum conditions of employment such as pay, working time bonuses, working time and holidays. The agreement is concluded by PAM for the employees and the Finnish Hospitality Association MaRa for the employers. A collective agreement was last negotiated in 2018.
The validity of the current collective agreement ends on 31 March 2020. After that the sector enters a state of non-agreement if no decision on new working conditions is reached before then.
