In the collective agreements approved by PAM’s Executive Committee today, the extended working hours introduced by the competitiveness pact will be removed from 1 January 2021.

PAM has negotiated, together with MaRa, new collective agreements for the amusement, theme and amusement park sector and a pay settlement for the ski resort sector. The settlements were reached in highly exceptional circumstances due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The agreement period of the new collective agreement for the amusement, theme and adventure park sector is 1 October 2020–31 March 2022. The agreement period includes two implementation dates for the pay settlements.

The first pay settlement comes into effect on 1 March 2021 and the details will be negotiated by the end of February 2021. If the organisations do not reach unanimity on the details of the pay settlement, the validity of the collective agreement will end without termination on 31 March 2021.

The second pay settlement comes into effect on 1 November 2021 and the details will be negotiated by the end of October 2021. If the organisations do not reach unanimity on the details of the pay settlement, the validity of the collective agreement will end without termination on 30 November 2021.

Key improvements in the collective agreement for the amusement, theme and adventure park sector include the removal of extended working hours (“kiky hours”) and changes related to employees’ coping and wellbeing. The extra working hours will be removed from 1 January 2021 by restoring the working hours previsions before the kiky extension, including restoring hours in rotating shift work to 112.5 hours, maximum working hours in averaging schedules and quotas for extra hours.

Under the new collective agreement, rest time between working shifts must be at least 11 hours, unless agreed otherwise with the employee. Even if agreed with the employee, rest time must be at least 8 hours.

The collective agreement also improves the situation of employees for the period of payment of sick pay in cases of accidents at work. The new section on sick pay is fairer for employment contracts that have lasted under one month if an employee has to go on sick leave due to an accident at work.

The maximum length of trial periods is extended from the current 4 months to the 6 months permitted by law. In fixed-term employment relationships of less than 12 months the trial period can be no more than half of the length of the contract.

The collective agreement negotiating parties also agreed, due to the coronavirus epidemic, on the possibility to agree locally on exceptional announcements of shift lists under conditions and procedures specified in the agreement. This agreement comes into effect on 1 October 2020 and is in effect until 31 August 2021. Read more on the temporary exceptions here.

The parties, PAM and MaRa, have also reached a pay settlement for the ski resort sector within the current collective agreement. Under the pay settlement for the ski resort sector, pay scales, personal wages as well as bonuses and payments denominated in euros and cents mentioned in the collective agreement will be increased from 1 March 2021 by 1.2 per cent. Extended working hours will be removed in the sector from 1 January 2021. Read more about other working conditions in the sector here (in Finnish).

There will be no general increase in salaries in the Adventure Services Sector program services sector due to the crisis in the industry due to the corona epidemic. The extension of working hours under the Competitiveness Agreement will be abolished in the sector from 1.1.2021. Read more about other working conditions in the industry here.
