PAM Council: Objective of collective bargaining round is higher pay!
The Council of Service Union United PAM says that in the upcoming collective bargaining round PAM is seeking outcomes that can compensate service sector workers for the painful effects of the competitiveness pact.
PAM’s Council demands that as Finland’s competitiveness improves and the economy gains strength, the upcoming collective bargaining round and wage decisions must roll back the adverse effects that the competitiveness pact imposed on workers.
The Council’s objective is higher pay for service sector workers. The Council demands that work must pay a living wage.
PAM’s Council states that in Finland’s centenary anniversary year it is important that pressure from employers does not lead to backtracking in agreement practices or human rights. Therefore employees, who are already underpaid, overworked and under extreme pressure, and low-paid work need the recognition they deserve. Therefore the Council calls on the entire employee movement to defend workers’ basic rights and build trust in society together.
PAM’s spring Council met in Koli on 17–18 May 2017. News item first published in Finnish on 18 May 2017.
