PAM Executive Committee: Difficulties in collective bargaining are due to employer coordination
Collective agreements for the commercial and facilities services sectors are expiring this Friday, 31 January. The PAM Executive Committee discussed the negotiation situation today.
“Our goal was to reach an agreement in January, but the employers have been unwilling to negotiate on issues such as the kiky hours. No continuation for the negotiations has been set,” explains Annika Rönni-Sällinen, president of PAM.
PAM’s Executive Committee has monitored the negotiations with some concern. According to the Executive Committee, employer coordination has prevented a satisfactory outcome to the negotiations.
“The Confederation of Finnish Industries [EK] wanted union-specific negotiations, but their employer coordination has blocked genuine negotiations from taking place on the union or any other level. The employers have escalated the situation into something very strange. We cannot just stand by and watch,” says Rönni-Sällinen.
PAM’s Executive Committee has decided to halt negotiations with both the Finnish Commerce Federation and the Real Estate Employers (Kiinteistötyönantajat ry) organisation. The Executive Committee also made other decisions relating to the collective agreement negotiations. These decisions will be announced on Monday 3 February.
