PAM members - join the demonstration for the tourism industry!
A demonstration on behalf of the tourism industry will be held this Thursday. PAM members are welcome to join the event from 1:30 pm in Helsinki.
Thursday 24 September at 1:30 pm, PAM members are welcome to gather at Helsinki Railway Station, from we continue in a group to the steps of the Finnish Parliament House. A demonstration called Many Faces of Tourism will be held there from 2 p.m.
"We hope that the demonstration vill gather active people, hotel and restaurant employees and other ones interested," says Henna-Kaisa Turpeinen, from PAM's Helsinki-Uusimaa regional office.
The event will be organized responsibly, taking into account safety distances, and face masks will be distributed to each participant.
The aim is to tell decision-makers that action to preserve jobs in the tourism industry is now important. The tourism sector employs 140,000 people, or 5.4 percent of all employed. The importance of the industry is not always recognized, and change is needed.
There are also currently collective bargaining negotiations taking place in the hospitality sector.
The demonstration is organized by the Finnish Tourism Association SMAL, but PAM will participate in the event.
