Collective bargaining process - 28.01.2018 klo 11.40

PAM's Selin: The collective bargaining process is running late

Service Union United PAM is at the moment negotiating working conditions to be applied for 400 000 workers. The employer organisation's strong cooperation and coordination in regards of solutions concerning pay is causing the negotiations to freeze, says PAM’s President Ann Selin.

PAMs president explains on the video, what is currently happening in the different collective agreement negotiations. You can see the video on YouTube.

For the moment PAM is negotiating collective agreements for 19 different sectors. During these negotiations PAM and the employers organisations are seeking unity on conditions of employment including pay, compensations and working time. The negotiations have been ongoing intensively for the past few weeks.

If the negotiating parties can not reach an understanding about the collective agreement before the current collective agreement expires, the parties enter into an interval.

"Next week's Wednesday the validity of the current collective agreement expires, Selin points out on the video.
In the interview Selin describers the ambiance and the progress of the different negotiations. PAM's goal in the negotiations is to reduce inequality in workers' wages.

"The employer have to stick to the wage increase that they have agreed upon", Selin says.

PAM is negotiating agreements for the major sectors including the retail sector, hospitality and leisure services as well as for facilities services sector.

Each and every negotiation situation is different. There might be a long history between the negotiators, and the connection and the atmosphere varies.

According to Selin the ongoing bargaining negotiation process labels the employer's tough approach on wage claims, which is reflected in the negotiations and which causes stiffness.

The ongoing bargaining negotiationg process offers solutions, that which affects the employees daily working conditions within the service sector.

Therefore, Selin considers discussing the negotiations and the progress of the collective bargaining process as utterly important at all workplaces.

"The collective bargaining process is a team sport, and solutions are not solely made only by the negotiation table. Each and everyone is required.
It is important that every PAM member is ready to act, if there is a need to react", Selin urges on the video.
