Proposal for settlement of labour dispute in facility services - Answers on Monday
The National Conciliator has put forward a proposal to settle the labour dispute regarding the terms and conditions of employment in the facility services sector.
The settlement proposal will now be discussed by both Service Union United PAM’s and Real Estate Employers’ administrative bodies. The proposal will either be accepted or rejected by PAM’s Executive Committee on Monday.
During the weekend, PAM issued a warning of a broad strike on 28-30 March covering the entire facility services sector. A strike at 145 locations will begins on Tuesday 15 March, unless a settlement is accepted before then, and hence a new collective agreement formed.
The collective agreement for the facility services sector ended on 28 February. Weeks-long negotiations in February for a new agreement ended without result. Therefore, PAM and Real Estate Employers have been in compulsory conciliation since 4 March.
