Quarantine does not entitle you to postpone annual holiday
Even though vaccinations have progressed well, you can still be exposed to coronavirus in Finland this summer. If you have to quarantine, it is important to realise that quarantine does not entitle you to postpone annual holiday.
Exposure to coronavirus is a nasty surprise for anyone taking their annual holiday. If, however, being exposed results in you being placed in quarantine, you should know what the implications are.
Quarantine does not automatically entitle you to postpone annual holiday. This is because quarantine is not considered to be sick leave. If you fall ill during quarantine, however, quarantine then becomes sick leave.
Employees should contact their employer immediately if they fall ill during quarantine. At the same time you should ask to have your annual holiday postponed for the time you are ill.
It may be that employees contract coronavirus or another illness during their annual holiday. On PAM’s website you can find a set of instructions on what to do to postpone annual holiday if you fall ill. You can read more about this here.
