Quit chewing on it – vote for enough to live on for everyone

It is advisable for each member of PAM to exercise his/her right to vote on election day Sunday 13 June, urges Annika Rönni-Sällinen, PAM President.

In the municipal elections on Sunday, it will be determined which representatives will make decisions in the municipalities over the next four years.

"Now is the time to vote for PAM members, so that in the decisions made in municipalities in the future there will be a strong voice of those working in the service sectors", encourages Annika Rönni-Sällinen, President of the Service Union United PAM.

Municipalities exist for their residents and therefore their services must operate on people’s terms. Rönni-Sällinen points out that numerous employees in the service industry work at irregular times, which must be better taken into account when deciding on municipal services.

“The work done by parents during irregular working hours challenges not only kindergarten-age children but also primary school children, who may have to spend long periods of time alone. Therefore, family services must be developed and the right to shift care must be extended to small schoolchildren as well ”.

In its municipal election themes, PAM emphasizes the functionality of services and the fact that municipalities must in future take better account of people who, through their own work, enable society to funtion around the clock. Municipalities should make the work as easy as possible and take it into account, for example, in the provision of services, the scheduling of public transport and the location of service places.
