Security guards dissatisfied – walkouts at workplaces
On Thursday the message reached the security guarding sector that the collective agreement negotiations have not gone to plan and that pay is a particular sticking point. The situation led to a walkout in the early morning, with security guards at Prevent 360 quitting their workplace in the middle of their shift.
“The reason for this is that we don’t like the way the collective agreement negotiations are taking so long and Palta is unwilling to agree to a reasonable wage settlement”, says Marko Kauko, security guarding shop steward at Prevent 360.
Employees in the security guarding sector have been waiting for a collective agreement settlement for a long time. There has been a state of non-agreement since 1 May 2018. The old collective agreement is currently being applied until further notice.
Security guards also walked out on Friday afternoon on 14 September and the walk-outs continued on Monday 17 September.
