The collective bargaining week starting today 26 February will get off to a busy start with both a negotiating meeting for the retail sector and conciliation for the facilities services sector in the afternoon. A limited work stoppage will start in the facilities services sector on Thursday 1 March unless a settlement is reached on a collective agreement before then.

Monday 26 February will start with a meeting concerning the retail negotiations.

Despite the negotiations breaking down, representatives from PAM and the Finnish Commerce Federation have stayed in touch.
"We have held talks in good faith with the employers’ federation, even though there haven’t been any actual negotiations for a week. Our aim is to reach a negotiated settlement and so it’s good that we are meeting on Monday", said PAM President Ann Selin last Thursday.
The negotiations were already well advanced when the parties jointly concluded that they had broken down.

Monday afternoon will continue with conciliation for the facilities services sector.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 27 February, there will be negotiations in the opera and pharmacy sectors. PAM applies the pharmacies’ collective agreement to pharmaceutical employees, pharmaceutical technicians, technical employees, pharmaceutical assistants, office workers and pharmacies’ own cleaners.
When a deal has been struck, the collective agreement for the Finnish National Opera and the working conditions agreed in it will be applied to workers, supervisors and experts in the opera’s technical teams. Team workers include light and sound operators, make-up artists, hairdressers, ushers and performance organisers.

Also on Tuesday, negotiations will be held for small specialised sectors applying to the copying and printing sector, photo products, special industry and the household appliance and equipment service and service machine sector. Negotiations are now being conducted separately for each sector because Palta was not willing to negotiate a joint framework agreement for all sectors as PAM proposed.

On Wednesday 28 February there will be negotiations on new working conditions for workers in amusement, theme and adventure parks. The negotiations were postponed from last Friday 23 February to this coming Wednesday.

The parties’ objectives for a text were discussed last time. The collective agreement for amusement, theme and adventure parks is generally binding, i.e. it must be applied to the employment relationships of all workers in amusement, theme and adventure parks. The agreement covers around 800 workers.

A limited work stoppage will start in the facilities services sector on Thursday 1 March, unless an agreement is reached for the sector before then. Two-day strikes will start at various sites in 12 companies. You can check the sites here.

Collective agreement negotiations for Avecra train service personnel will continue on Friday 2 March. The negotiations will next turn to pay. The company-specific Avecra collective agreement applies to around 200 employees.

There will be coverage of the negotiating result obtained on Sunday 25 February for hospitality services once the employees’ Agreement Sector Commission and the union’s Executive Committee have studied it.
